Bournemouth

This weekend Budget UK sent me on my very own bucket list experience and it was one of the best weekends I have had since living in London.

Friday night I finished up my packing. I certainly had more then I needed, but that is the benefit of having a car, right? You can take as much as you would like and since I had the weekend planned and filled with activities I decided the more the better.

Saturday morning I woke up nice and early to pick up the car from London City Airport. It is not often that I hire a car but the process was incredibly easy and quick. I handed over my license and signed a few forms and the car was ours.

We loaded everything into the boot of our little Peugeot and got on our way.19397867_10155537562088083_111553557_n

We drove out of London and saw some of the iconic buildings on our way,

Finally we arrived in Bournemouth and headed straight for the beach, it was after all almost 30 degrees and the beach looked absolutely divine!

We spent the next few hours enjoying the sun and being outside of London. The water was perfect for cooling off and as the sun started to go down we enjoyed having a little piece of the beach to ourselves.19369562_10155537659263083_113966965_n

At this point we had been on the beach for around three hours and it was time to go back to our hotel to get ready for dinner.

Our hotel was located just east of the pier which was the perfect spot as it allowed us to walk into the centre and find a place to watch the sun set before heading to dinner.IMG_9427.JPG19239696_10155537673953083_284459666_n.jpg

We walked home from dinner content and absolutely exhausted from the day we’d had. As we wandered home we couldn’t stop discussing how amazing Bournemouth was. It is so close to London and if you have a car like we did then it is incredibly easy to explore the neighbouring towns as well which all have so much to offer.

On Sunday morning we woke up with so many things still to do and see. I was desperate to check out the beach huts that line Bournemouth boardwalk without hundreds of people around like the day before. I headed down first thing in the morning and I am so glad I did. The beach huts are in a lot of different colours and they gradient from one to the next. It is almost like looking at a life size colour wheel. IMG_9519IMG_9462IMG_9515IMG_9550

After admiring the beach boxes. I headed back to the hotel to check out and we filled the car with all our luggage. Another benefit of having a car for the weekend was not having to worry about all our bags or getting it back from the hotel reception we simply put it in the car and took it with us to our next destination.

After checking out we headed down to hire bikes to ride along the foreshore. if you follow me on Instagram you might have seen on my stories how much fun we had riding around Bournemouth,IMG_9665IMG_9675

The bike shop was perfectly located on the boardwalk just by the pier and the beach huts which meant that we stopped for a mini photo shoot with the beach huts in the background before returning the bikes.IMG_9808We had worked up quite an appetite after all the riding and so we grabbed the car and headed to the cosy club for a beautiful brunch on the terrace.19244243_10155537674148083_1589083424_n.jpg

Before jumping back in the car and heading to New Forest for a hike through the woods. We even saw some wildlife while we explored the forest. IMG_9825IMG_9829IMG_9830

We didn’t stay for to long as it was such a beautiful day we decided to make one last quick trip to the beach before having to head back to London. Milford on Sea is only 30 minutes drive from Lyndhurst so we chose that as our destination and made a beeline for the coast. IMG_9844IMG_9852

After one last dip in the ocean it was time to head back to London.IMG_9854.JPG

This trip was about ticking off a bucket list experience. Ever since I moved to the UK I have wanted to grab a car, drive to the coast and explore a different side of England. Budget UK gave me the opportunity with their Budgetlist experience campaign. They have also given me a discount code for you to use to help you ticket off your bucket list items.  Add L840200 to receive 30% off at the checkout for reservations between 1st of September and 14th of December 2017. 1. This is a fun take on a staycation road-trip, with bikes! I’m going to repost/share it Thursday, June 29th on my blog teresabruce.me. Mine’s a retrospective road trip blog sharing bonus material from my new memoir about a year-long drive down the Pan-American Highway. Feel free to share with your friends if you ever need some content 🙂
